CHAI Marin - Community Holding Hands_edited.jpg

United for
a Safe & Inclusive Marin.

A countywide alliance of community members committed to elevating Jewish life, safety, heritage and belonging in our schools and neighborhoods.

From Support to Strength

CHAI Marin emerged in response to the stark rise in antisemitism across the Bay Area and the U.S. following October 7, 2023. What began as individuals seeking support and connection has evolved into a countywide vision ensuring that Jewish community members don’t just survive in Marin, but thrive. Why "CHAI"? Our name acts as our North Star. Chai is the Hebrew word for "Life". While we stand firm against hate, we also uplift Jewish life, culture and identity in community together with our neighbors. We honor our heritage by joyfully celebrating our rich traditions,  together with our neighbors. We live this as we celebrate and sustain Jewish life, culture, and identity in our community together with our neighbors. rooted in the tradition of embracing joy

Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission: To ensure the safety, inclusion, and well-being of Jewish residents and students in Marin. We work to create environments—in schools, workplaces, and public life—free from harassment and bias.

Our Vision: We envision a Marin where:

Students

feel emotionally safe and proud to share their identity in the classroom.

Families

can proudly observe holidays and freely celebrate their heritage.

Communities

respond to antisemitism with the same urgency and care afforded to any other minority group.

Two Initiatives. One Vision.

An Umbrella for Advocacy CHAI Marin serves as the parent organization for two distinct but aligned initiatives:

CHAI Marin K-12

Focused exclusively on the education system.

We work to ensure schools are safe,

inclusive spaces for everyone and provide support to students, parents and staff if faced

with discrimination or antisemitism.

CHAI Marin Community

Focused on local and community advocacy. We are committed to fostering inclusive spaces free from antisemitism where Jewish community members feel safe, valued, and proud to share their identity and traditions with their neighbors.

Volunteer-Powered,
Community-Led.

We are not a remote, corporate-run entity. We are your neighbors.

CHAI Marin is volunteer-run, led by local parents, educators, community activists,

students and allies who have a deep understanding of our local educational and civic landscape.

Fiscal Sponsorship

We are a proud member of the grassroots network under the Bay Area Center to Counter Antisemitism (BACCA). As our fiscal sponsor, BACCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that allows us to operate efficiently and accept tax-deductible donations to fuel our work.

This work requires all of us.

Whether you are a parent, a student, an educator, community member or an ally,
